From May 2011 to January 2014 I had consistently worked out 3 to 4 times a week at various CrossFit Boxes around the country – CrossFit Wilmington and CrossFit Asheville in North Carolina, and Cincinnati Strength & Conditioning (CSC). Then, in January of 2014, I hit a major roadblock in my life and fell off the healthy lifestyle bandwagon. Due to personal reasons, I was no longer going to be able to attend my old box. In addition, I was diagnosed with a medical condition and put on medication which would no longer allow me to perform the extremely high intensity workouts that are often incorporated in a typical CrossFit Training Program.
As a 26 year old woman, I never imagined I would have medical restrictions that would stop me from my regular workouts. These issues crushed me. I love the CrossFit style workouts, with the ever changing movements, the different tempos, the mixture of weights and cardio. I was convinced I would never step foot in a box again. Then, in August of 2014, I saw that Chelsea McCarty was going to start doing Personal Training. At CSC, Chelsea was an excellent athlete, who supported all the gym members on their personal goals. I reached out to Chelsea and we met at a Starbucks to discuss the possibility of Personal Training. I laid all my cards on the table, my concerns, my restrictions, and the fact that I just wanted to feel healthy again.
Chelsea’s understanding and optimistic reaction blew me away. In short, I left with one message – Let’s do this! From our first training session, Chelsea has done amazing things to make me healthy, fit, and strong. From a programming prospective, Chelsea has done an incredible job designing challenging workouts customized to my needs. My cardio has improved remarkably since I began working with Chelsea and is something I notice in my everyday activities. My strength, which had plummeted in the months I had taken off, is back! In fact, in many ways I am stronger than ever before! I am able to do more repetitions and breathe through workouts that I would have struggled with in the past. Chelsea’s style pushes you to do your best, focuses on your personal goals, makes you smile, and she will even make you laugh – sometimes mid-workout! Overall, I am thrilled with my decision to work with Chelsea as my Personal Trainer.Jena , Training Client
